Rangers on the Warpath
In the early 1980′s as a private soldier, I found myself stationed in Germany, far away from home, family, my wife and anything I knew and was familiar with. I was a stranger in a strange land to borrow a phrase, having to defend my sanity against the daily grind of sergeants, officers, and lonliness. Having no other resources at my disposal, I fell back on my inherent smartass genes, and the wit and humor of my father and uncles to substain myself. I also began to create a fictious story in my mind that I would pull excerpts from when needed to make the rest of the platoon laugh, and to keep myself from crying sometimes. While the isolation only lasted a few months when my wife joined me, the story somehow took on a life of its own, and developed with each situation I encountered. I ever went as far as beginning a novel and wrote quite a bit of it, but it took up residence on the closet shelf for about 20 years before I dusted it off and review it. I decided to bring it back to life, but in the process, left the fiction out, and began to tell my own story. This is it. I hope you enjoy.
I remember this picture Duke I was in the ITV at the time but I do remember the guy who originally took these. He was the C.O driver Small framed white guy PFC ?
